“A celebration of Copenhagen nightlife”. That’s the official tagline of Distortion. And that’s what Distortion is about. But not only that.
For five days the streets of Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is turned into a massive festival with loads of street parties and concerts mainly in the electronic genres, and people gather around to the loud beats – and each other. It’s all about having a great party and enjoying the company of more than 100.000 party people. That’s how many people, that participated through the last couple of years.
This year Distortion takes place from May 30 to June 3 (from Wednesday to Sunday), and every day the street parties move around in different neighborhoods:
Saturday: Final party (location not announced yet)
Sunday: Hygge parties (location announced on the day)
During daytime there are so-called Block Parties until 23 o’clock, where the official parties start. Those who have paid for a ticket can dance to the tunes of some of the greatestelectronic names of Denmark, Europe, and the rest of world.
Distortion began in 1998 in a small scale. 10 years after, in 2008, the festival became semi-pro and more serious, and last year the festival had around 130.000 individual guests.
